Non-Alc Sales Representative / Draft Line Cleaner – Garrett & Allegany Counties, MD

Wantz Distributors is forward thinking beverage distributor in Washington County representing suppliers of beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. We are looking for an independent professional with a competitive spirit and background to join our sales team. Reports to: Non-Alc Team Leader

Position Overview: The Non-Alc Sales Representative/Draft Line Cleaner is the primary store-level sales person to assigned chain accounts such as supermarkets and convenience stores and is responsible for providing service to and growing business in a pre-designated territory. Additionally this position cleans draft lines at our licensed retail accounts.

Primary Objective: To safely and efficiently count and merchandises inventory and order products to be delivered by delivery department to the store. Generates sales by selling to and servicing customers while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Also, to ensure beer lines, faucets, and other components are free of bacteria, yeast, mold, and beer stone to maintain the beer’s quality, flavor, and safety for consumers in licensed restaurants and bars.

Salary: $840 to $920 Weekly Base Pay with Monthly Bonus Potential of up to $1950.

Plus a $145 Weekly Car Allowance

Schedule: 4 Day Work Week (Monday – Thursday), 10 Hours per Day

 Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for regular call frequency on assigned retail accounts primarily to sell volume, increase distribution, merchandise, monitor price and shelf space management
  • Build business relationships with retailers and present professional sales presentations using historical sales data and sell sheets
  • Responsible for daily decisions regarding retail inventory levels using past sales history, changes in climate, competitive activity and special promotional activities
  • Responsible for fulfilling pre-established objectives set by the Non-Alc Portfolio Development Manager and implementation of Company programs at retail level
  • Take inventory and place orders for future delivery
  • Responsible for maintaining published product freshness standards in assigned retail accounts by monitoring and rotating stocks
  • Responsible for maintaining up-to-date route accounting system
  • Sell-in new placements.
  • Clean draft lines at licensed retail accounts on a rotating schedule
  • Flush draft beer from our lines using a pump and cleaning solution. Clean the faucets and tapping device and back flush with water cleaning the lines. Finally, the line is back flushed with beer.
  • Other duties of the job will include changing out tapping devices, draft troubleshooting
  • Merchandise with temporary P.O.S. and book permanent P.O.S.
  • Work with the credit department to resolve credit issues including collecting past due balances
  • Communicate any issues with store managers and Wantz management
  • Comply with operating procedures

Skills & Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years or older
  • Must reside in Garrett or Allegany County, MD
  • Bachelor’s degree recommended but not required
  • 3-5 years beverage or consumer products sales experience a plus
  • Regular, reliable, predictable attendance necessary
  • Must have reliable transportation to access multi-retail locations within assigned shift
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proof of Insurance
  • Ability to lift 25-45lbs
  • Lifting, bending, pulling and pushing required
  • Strong self-management skills and attention to detail are required
  • Ability to complete daily procedures and responsibilities without direct supervision
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, interpersonal skills.

Sales Assistant

Job Responsibilities

  • Build, merchandise and maintain product displays and restock shelves in retail accounts
  • Install and place permanent and temporary point of sale materials
  • Ensure proper stock rotation in assigned accounts and notify appropriate personnel of potential freshness issues
  • Provide support for sales promotions and special events
  • Comply with all legal guidelines, safety requirements and Anheuser-Busch standards and policies
  • Responsible for daily paperwork and the proper completion of all Company documents
  • Attend sales/team meetings as directed by management along with daily interaction with manager to discuss sales issues, competitive activities, and opportunities to maximize sales efforts
  • Responsible for compiling shelf space data at designated accounts
  • Maximize sales of products in assigned accounts by increasing distribution, shelf space, displays, securing price points, draught taps, merchandising, etc.
  • Provide periodic feedback regarding A-B and competitive market data
  • Work with all departments to resolve customer service issues (e.g. credit/collection, deliveries, etc.)
  • Participate in evening and weekend promotions as necessary
  • After completing required training, provide relief coverage for sales territories in Sales Reps’ absence when necessary
  • Execute work orders and cooler resets as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Able to lift, load, unload and move product weighing up to 165 lbs as well as hang merchandise materials.
  • Once (1) year of selling or merchandising experience (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • An intense competitive spirit with an assertive and confident personality.
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to achieving results.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong selling and negotiating skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
